Install the Mac agent

A tiny helper runs on your Mac and indexes your Obsidian-style Markdown vault — a folder of notes. Your notes stay on your machine; only the specific passages you ask for are relayed.

1. Pair your Mac to this account (get your code in Step 2, then run):

npx second-brain-agent pair <CODE>

2. Keep it running automatically after every restart:

npx second-brain-agent install

Requires Node.js. Point the agent at your vault folder with SECONDBRAIN_VAULT or ~/.secondbrainbridge-agent.json. If the vault sits in a protected location (Documents, Desktop, or iCloud Drive), macOS asks once for Files & Folders access to that folder — click Allow.

Connect ChatGPT

Add SecondBrainBridge as a custom connector in ChatGPT (one time).

In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins (formerly Connectors).
Under Security & login, enable Developer mode.
Choose Create a custom plugin (custom connector).
Paste this MCP Server URL:

Set Authentication to OAuth.
